Machine repair for rice & grain mills plants

Rice and grain mills run long seasonal campaigns where every hour of the harvest season counts. A typical mill chains together pre-cleaners, destoners, huskers, paddy separators, whiteners, polishers, graders and colour sorters, all fed by bucket elevators and conveyors, so one stopped elevator or motor can idle the whole line.

Dust is the main enemy. It clogs motor cooling, gets into drive heatsinks and panel filters, and wears bearings and belts. Most electrical failures in mills are heat failures caused by dust, and most of them can be prevented by cleaning that has to be done more often than in other industries.

03 / A typical fault

A fault pattern worth knowing

A motor that keeps tripping on overload in a dusty mill, with the load unchanged, is usually overheating rather than overloaded. Packed dust on the cooling fins and a blocked fan cowl raise the winding temperature until the protection trips. Cleaning the motor and checking the current against its nameplate usually settles it; a motor that still runs hot after cleaning needs its bearings and windings checked.

  2. 02We match a technician who works on this kind of equipment, and they review the code before setting out.
  3. 03On site they make it safe, diagnose, and tell you what has failed and what the repair involves before starting.
  4. 04After the repair they run the machine with you, and you sign off a job card and get a report for your records.

06 / Questions

Rice & Grain Mills: common questions

When is the best time to service a rice mill's electricals?+

Before the season starts. Cleaning panels and motors, checking terminations and starters, and testing the elevators and conveyors during the off-season prevents most of the breakdowns that otherwise happen in the busiest weeks.

Can you repair colour sorters?+

The electrical side of a colour sorter, including power supplies, valve drivers, PLCs and wiring, can usually be diagnosed. Camera and optical calibration is specific to each maker, so we tell you after looking at the machine whether it needs the maker's support.

How do we get a technician for a breakdown in a rice & grain mills plant?+

Send the machine, the fault code or symptom and the plant location by WhatsApp or phone. We match a technician who works on that equipment and tell you who is available and when before you confirm.

Can we set up scheduled maintenance instead of calling for breakdowns?+

Yes. A planned maintenance schedule covers the machines you choose, with visit frequency set by how much each machine's failure costs you.

What happens if parts are needed during a repair?+

The technician lists the parts needed and the sourcing options before anything is fitted. Parts are quoted separately from labour.
