Drives & Control
- VFD (Variable Frequency Drive)
An electronic drive that controls the speed and torque of an AC induction motor by varying the frequency and voltage supplied to it.
A rectifier converts the incoming AC supply to DC, a capacitor bank smooths that DC bus, and an IGBT inverter stage switches the DC back into AC at whatever frequency the control board asks for. Because motor speed follows supply frequency, changing the frequency changes the speed. Keeping the voltage-to-frequency ratio constant holds torque steady across the range.
Where you'll find it
Pumps, fans, conveyors, compressors, mixers and machine-tool spindles — anywhere a motor needs to run at something other than full speed, or needs a soft, controlled start.
AC driveinverter drivefrequency convertervariable speed drive- Servo Drive
A closed-loop drive that controls the position, velocity and torque of a servo motor using continuous feedback.
The drive takes a command from a motion controller or PLC, compares it against the actual position reported by the motor's encoder, and adjusts current to close the gap — thousands of times a second. That feedback loop is what separates a servo from a VFD: it corrects error rather than hoping the motor followed.
Where you'll find it
CNC axes, pick-and-place arms, indexing tables, filling and labelling heads — any motion that must land on an exact position repeatedly.
servo amplifierservo controller- Servo Motor
A motor built for precise motion control, carrying a feedback device so its drive always knows the shaft's exact position.
Permanent magnets on the rotor and precisely wound stator coils give high torque from a small frame with very low inertia, so it starts, stops and reverses quickly. A mounted encoder or resolver reports shaft angle back to the drive, and many units add a holding brake that locks the shaft when power is removed.
Where you'll find it
Machine tool axes, robotic joints, packaging machine motion, and any application needing repeatable positioning to a fraction of a degree.
AC servobrushless servo motor- DC Drive
A controlled rectifier that varies the armature voltage of a DC motor to set its speed.
A bridge of thyristors fires at a controlled angle in each AC half-cycle, so the average DC voltage reaching the motor can be set anywhere from zero to full. Since a DC motor's speed tracks armature voltage, the firing angle sets the speed, while a separate field circuit controls torque at higher speeds.
Where you'll find it
Older rolling mills, extruders, printing lines and winders where the installed DC motor base still outperforms a replacement on cost.
thyristor driveDC speed controller- Soft Starter
A device that ramps voltage up gradually when starting an AC motor, limiting the inrush current and mechanical shock of a direct start.
Back-to-back thyristors in each phase gate progressively more of the AC waveform through over a set ramp time, so the motor accelerates smoothly instead of slamming to full speed. Once up to speed, a bypass contactor usually takes over to avoid heat losses in the thyristors.
Where you'll find it
Large pumps, fans, compressors and conveyors that only ever run at full speed but would damage couplings, belts or the supply if started across the line.
reduced voltage starterSCR starter- PLC (Programmable Logic Controller)
A ruggedised industrial computer that reads sensors, applies control logic, and switches outputs to run a machine or process.
It runs a continuous scan cycle: read every input into memory, execute the whole user program against that snapshot, then write the results to the outputs. Because every scan sees a frozen picture of the inputs, behaviour stays predictable — and scan time, usually a few milliseconds, sets how fast the machine can react.
Where you'll find it
Machine sequencing, interlocks, batching, conveyor and packaging line control — anywhere relay logic would once have filled a panel.
programmable controllerindustrial controller- HMI Panel
The touchscreen an operator uses to run a machine, showing live values and accepting commands.
The panel holds a screen design whose objects are mapped to tags — addresses in the PLC's memory. It polls those addresses continuously, redraws what it reads, and writes back whatever the operator touches. It holds no control logic of its own, which is why a dead HMI stops the operator rather than the machine.
Where you'll find it
Machine start-stop and recipe screens, alarm displays, production counters and parameter entry on almost every modern automated machine.
operator paneltouch panelMMI- SCADA System
Plant-wide software that collects data from many controllers, displays it centrally, and records it for analysis.
A server polls PLCs and smart devices across the plant network, writes the values into a historian database, and drives mimic screens showing the live state of the process. Operators can issue setpoint changes from those screens, while alarms and trends build the record used for troubleshooting and compliance.
Where you'll find it
Multi-machine plants, utilities, water and effluent treatment, and anywhere production data must be logged rather than just displayed.
supervisory control system- Industrial Control Panel
The enclosure that houses a machine's switchgear, controller, drives and terminations in one protected, serviceable assembly.
Incoming supply passes through isolation and protection, feeds a power section of contactors and drives, and a separately routed control section of PLC, relays and 24 V supplies. Power and control wiring are segregated to stop switching noise corrupting signals, and the enclosure's IP rating keeps dust and moisture off everything inside.
Where you'll find it
Every automated machine and process line — it is the box a technician opens first when something electrical goes wrong.
control cabinetautomation panel- MCC Panel
A floor-standing assembly of motor starters, each in its own compartment, feeding many motors from one incomer.
A common busbar runs the length of the panel, and each motor gets a bucket containing its breaker, contactor and overload relay. Grouping them means one supply, one earth and one place to work, and a single bucket can usually be isolated for maintenance while the rest of the plant keeps running.
Where you'll find it
Pump houses, utility blocks, process plants and any area where a dozen or more motors need centralised control.
motor control centre- Thyristor Power Stack
An assembly of silicon-controlled rectifiers that switches large currents for heating, plating or DC drive applications.
Each thyristor conducts once gated and keeps conducting until its current falls to zero, so the controller sets power by choosing when in the cycle to fire. Phase-angle control chops each half-cycle for smooth adjustment; burst firing passes whole cycles for thermal loads where fine control is wasted.
Where you'll find it
Furnace and heater control, electroplating rectifiers, DC drive bridges, and large resistive loads needing stepless power control.
SCR stackthyristor module- Industrial Encoder
A sensor that converts shaft rotation into electrical pulses or a digital word, so a controller knows position and speed.
A disc with precise optical or magnetic marks spins past a sensor head. An incremental encoder emits pulse trains whose count gives distance and whose phase difference gives direction, but it loses its reference on power-off. An absolute encoder instead reports a unique code per angle, so it knows where it is the instant power returns.
Where you'll find it
Servo and motor feedback, conveyor length measurement, cut-to-length systems, and crane and hoist position control.

Machine Tools
- CNC Machine
A machine tool whose cutting movements are driven by a program rather than by hand.
A part program written in G-code describes tool paths as coordinates and feed rates. The controller interpolates those into coordinated motion commands for each axis, the servo or stepper drives execute them, and encoders confirm the axes actually arrived where they were told.
Where you'll find it
Milling, turning, drilling, grinding and cutting of parts that must be identical batch after batch.
computer numerical control machine- VMC (Vertical Machining Centre)
A CNC milling machine with a vertical spindle and an automatic tool changer, built for multi-operation work in one setup.
The workpiece clamps to a table moving in X and Y while the spindle head moves in Z. An automatic tool changer swaps tools from a carousel between operations, so drilling, tapping, facing and profiling run from one program without the operator touching the part.
Where you'll find it
Die and mould work, automotive and aerospace components, jigs and fixtures — anything prismatic needing several operations to tight tolerance.
vertical machining centerCNC milling centre- CNC Lathe
A CNC machine that rotates the workpiece against a programmed tool to produce cylindrical parts.
The chuck spins the part while a turret carrying several tools moves along Z and across X. The controller coordinates spindle speed with feed, so surface speed can stay constant as diameter changes. Live tooling in the turret adds drilling and milling off the turning centre line.
Where you'll find it
Shafts, bushes, pulleys, fittings and fasteners produced in volume to consistent diameters.
turning centreCNC turning machine- Lathe Machine
The conventional turning machine, where an operator guides the tool against a rotating workpiece using handwheels and gear settings.
A headstock gearbox sets spindle speed, and a leadscrew and feed shaft driven from that same gearbox move the carriage at a fixed ratio to spindle rotation. That mechanical link is what lets a lathe cut accurate threads — pitch comes from the gear train, not from the operator's hand.
Where you'll find it
Job work, repair machining, one-off shafts and bushes, and training — still the backbone of most Indian general engineering workshops.
centre latheengine lathe- Milling Machine
A machine that removes metal with a rotating multi-tooth cutter while the workpiece is fed past it.
The cutter spins in the spindle while the table carries the work in X, Y and Z. Each tooth takes a chip per revolution, so material removal depends on cutter diameter, tooth count, spindle speed and feed rate together. Feeding against cutter rotation is conventional milling; feeding with it is climb milling, which needs a backlash-free screw.
Where you'll find it
Flat faces, slots, keyways, pockets and gear cutting in tool rooms and fabrication shops.
vertical millhorizontal mill- Surface Grinder
A machine that produces flat, accurate surfaces by passing work under a rotating abrasive wheel.
A magnetic chuck holds the work while the table reciprocates beneath the wheel, taking a few microns per pass. The wheel must be dressed regularly with a diamond to expose fresh abrasive, and coolant carries away the heat that would otherwise distort the part and ruin the size being chased.
Where you'll find it
Finishing die plates, gauges, punches and any component needing flatness and surface finish beyond what milling gives.
precision grinder- Power Press
A machine that forms or cuts sheet metal by driving a die downward with stored flywheel energy.
A motor spins a heavy flywheel continuously, storing energy. When the operator trips the clutch, that energy drives the crankshaft and ram through one stroke, and the brake stops it at top dead centre. The press delivers its rated tonnage only near the bottom of the stroke, which is why die height and shut height matter so much.
Where you'll find it
Blanking, piercing, bending and deep drawing of sheet components for automotive, appliance and electrical parts.
mechanical pressstamping press- Injection Moulding Machine
A machine that melts plastic granules and injects them under pressure into a closed mould to form a part.
A reciprocating screw turns inside a heated barrel, melting and mixing granules while conveying them forward. The screw then drives ahead like a plunger to fill the mould, holds pressure while the part cools and shrinks, and the clamp unit opens to eject before the next cycle. Barrel heat zones, injection pressure and cooling time together decide part quality.
Where you'll find it
High-volume plastic components for packaging, automotive, electrical and consumer goods.

Packaging & Food
- Vacuum Sealing Machine
A machine that removes air from a filled pouch and heat-seals it closed, slowing spoilage and oxidation.
The operator lays the filled pouch across a seal bar inside a chamber and closes the lid. A vacuum pump evacuates the whole chamber, so air leaves the pouch because the pressure outside it has dropped too. At the set vacuum level the seal bar heats for a timed moment to fuse the film, then the chamber vents and atmospheric pressure presses the pack tight.
Where you'll find it
Meat, dairy, spices, rice, dry fruit, pickles and ready-to-cook foods, plus moisture-sensitive engineering components and electronics.
chamber vacuum sealervacuum packing machine- Double-Chamber Vacuum Sealer
A vacuum sealer with two chambers under one lid, so the operator loads one side while the other runs its cycle.
A single pump and control system serve both chambers, and the lid pivots from one to the other. Because the cycle time is dead time for the operator, overlapping load and run roughly doubles output without doubling the machine. Each chamber keeps its own seal bars and vacuum sensing, so settings can differ between the two sides.
Where you'll find it
Mid-volume food packing where a single chamber can no longer keep up but an automatic thermoforming line is not yet justified.
twin chamber vacuum sealerdouble chamber vacuum packing machine- Continuous Band Sealer
A machine that seals a steady stream of pouches by drawing their open mouths between heated moving bands.
Two PTFE bands grip the pouch mouth and carry it through a heating zone that melts the inner film layer, then a cooling zone that sets the seal, then knurled rollers that emboss it. Because the pouch never stops, throughput depends on band speed rather than on a cycle time.
Where you'll find it
Snack, spice, tea and hardware packing lines running hundreds of pouches an hour.
band sealing machinepouch sealer- VFFS Form-Fill-Seal Machine
A machine that forms a pouch from a roll of film, fills it, and seals it — all in one continuous cycle.
Film unwinds over a forming collar that folds it into a tube around a filling pipe. A vertical sealing jaw closes the back seam, horizontal jaws seal the bottom, product drops through the pipe, and the same jaws then seal the top of that pouch and the bottom of the next while cutting between them. Everything hangs on jaw timing staying synchronised with film pull and the registration mark on printed film.
Where you'll find it
Snacks, spices, pulses, detergent powder, milk powder and sachet packing — the workhorse of Indian FMCG lines.
FFS machinevertical form fill sealpouch packing machine- Shrink Wrapping Machine
A machine that wraps product in heat-shrinkable film and passes it through a hot tunnel so the film tightens around it.
Loose film is wrapped and sealed around the product, then a conveyor carries it through a tunnel of circulated hot air. The film's oriented molecules relax at temperature and pull back toward their original dimensions, gripping the pack. Tunnel temperature, air speed and belt speed together decide whether the film clings cleanly or burns and wrinkles.
Where you'll find it
Bottled water and beverage multipacks, bundled cartons, and tamper-evident retail packs.
shrink tunnelsleeve wrapper- Carton Sealing Machine
A machine that folds carton flaps and applies tape to the top and bottom seams as the box passes through.
Side belts or a top drive push the carton through while plough plates fold the flaps in sequence. Spring-loaded tape heads apply and cut tape across each seam, with a wipe-down roller pressing it flat. Changing carton size means adjusting head height and side-belt width, which is where most downtime on these machines comes from.
Where you'll find it
End-of-line packing in warehouses, FMCG dispatch and e-commerce fulfilment.
case sealerbox taping machine- Liquid Filling Machine
A machine that dispenses a controlled quantity of liquid into bottles, pouches or cans.
Volumetric fillers meter a fixed volume with a piston or flow meter, gravimetric fillers weigh each container as it fills and cut off at target weight, and level fillers simply fill until the liquid reaches a sensed height. Viscosity, foaming and temperature all shift the result, which is why the same machine needs re-setting when the product changes.
Where you'll find it
Beverages, edible oil, sauces, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and lubricants.
bottle fillerfilling machine- Labelling Machine
A machine that peels labels from a backing web and applies them to containers in a repeatable position.
The web feeds over a sharp peel plate where the stiff label separates from the flexible backing and projects forward. A sensor detects the arriving container and triggers the stroke, and a wrap station or brush rolls the label down. Keeping label position consistent depends on web tension and on the sensor seeing the gap between labels reliably.
Where you'll find it
Bottles, jars, cans and cartons across food, pharma, cosmetics and lubricants.
labelersticker labelling machine- Checkweigher
An in-line machine that weighs every pack as it moves past and rejects the ones outside tolerance.
A short weigh conveyor sits on load cells between infeed and outfeed belts. As a pack crosses it, the controller samples the load signal, filters out conveyor vibration, and settles on a weight within a few hundred milliseconds. If it falls outside the set band, a timed air blast or pusher removes that pack downstream.
Where you'll find it
Legal-metrology compliance and giveaway control on food, pharma and FMCG lines.
in-motion checkweigherweight checker- Industrial Weighing Machine
A scale built for plant use, converting the force of a load into an electrical signal a controller can read.
The load sits on one or more load cells — steel bodies with strain gauges bonded to them in a Wheatstone bridge. Load deforms the body by a tiny amount, the gauges change resistance in proportion, and the bridge turns that into a millivolt signal the indicator scales into engineering units. Accuracy depends on the load sitting evenly and on the whole assembly being free to deflect.
Where you'll find it
Weighbridges, batching hoppers, platform scales and bagging stations across every process industry.

Fluid & Air
- Air Compressor
A machine that draws in atmospheric air and compresses it into a receiver for use as plant utility air.
In a reciprocating unit, a piston draws air in through an inlet valve on the down stroke and compresses it past a discharge valve on the up stroke. The receiver stores that air so the compressor can cycle rather than run continuously, and a pressure switch starts and stops it between cut-in and cut-out settings.
Where you'll find it
Pneumatic cylinders and tooling, blowing and cleaning, instrument air, and spray or conveying systems.
reciprocating compressorpiston compressor- Screw Air Compressor
A compressor that squeezes air continuously between two meshing helical rotors rather than in strokes.
Air entering the inlet is trapped in the gap between a male and female rotor, and as the rotors turn, that trapped volume shrinks toward the discharge. Oil injected into the chamber seals the rotor clearances, carries away heat, and is then separated out downstream. The result is smooth, pulse-free delivery suited to running for hours.
Where you'll find it
Plants needing steady high-volume air — a continuous duty where a piston compressor would overheat.
rotary screw compressor- Refrigerated Air Dryer
A unit that chills compressed air to condense out its moisture before the air reaches the plant.
Compressed air is cooled to roughly 3 °C in a refrigerated heat exchanger. Cold air cannot hold as much water vapour, so the excess condenses and is removed by a separator and drain trap. The air then passes back through the incoming stream, warming up again so pipes do not sweat.
Where you'll find it
Protecting pneumatic valves, cylinders, instruments and paint systems from the water that compression always produces.
compressed air dryer- Vacuum Pump
A pump that removes air from a sealed space to create pressure below atmospheric.
In a rotary vane pump, vanes slide in and out of an offset rotor, sweeping expanding and contracting pockets that draw gas in and push it out. Oil seals the vane tips and lubricates the running surfaces. Dry claw pumps do the same job without oil, using close-tolerance lobes that never touch.
Where you'll find it
Vacuum packing, pick-and-place suction cups, degassing, filtration and forming machines.
rotary vane pumpindustrial vacuum pump- Hydraulic Power Pack
The self-contained assembly of motor, pump, reservoir and valves that supplies pressurised oil to a hydraulic machine.
An electric motor drives a pump that draws oil from the tank and delivers flow to the circuit. A relief valve caps the maximum pressure, directional valves route oil to the actuators, and an accumulator can store energy for brief high-demand moments. Flow sets actuator speed; pressure sets the force it can produce.
Where you'll find it
Presses, injection moulding clamps, tilting and lifting tables, and machine tool clamping systems.
hydraulic power unitHPU- Hydraulic Press
A press that develops force through fluid pressure acting on a ram rather than through a mechanical crank.
Pump pressure acting over the ram's piston area gives the force, so tonnage is simply pressure multiplied by area — and full tonnage is available anywhere in the stroke, unlike a mechanical press. Speed depends on flow rate, which is why presses often run fast on approach and slow under load.
Where you'll find it
Deep drawing, moulding, straightening, bearing fitting and assembly work needing controlled force.
hydraulic forming press- Centrifugal Pump
A pump that moves liquid by flinging it outward with a spinning impeller.
Liquid enters at the impeller eye and is thrown outward by rotation, gaining velocity. The volute casing then slows that flow and converts the velocity into pressure. Flow and head are linked by the pump curve, so throttling a discharge valve moves the operating point along that curve rather than simply reducing output.
Where you'll find it
Water supply, cooling circuits, effluent transfer and almost every bulk liquid movement in a plant.
process pump- Industrial Chiller
A refrigeration unit that cools water or glycol and circulates it to take heat out of a process or machine.
It runs the standard vapour-compression cycle: the compressor raises refrigerant pressure, the condenser rejects heat to air or water, an expansion device drops the pressure, and the evaporator absorbs heat from the process water flowing over it. How close the chilled water gets to the refrigerant temperature — the approach — is the measure of how well it is working.
Where you'll find it
Cooling moulds, spindles, welding equipment, hydraulic oil and reactor jackets.

Material Handling
- EOT Crane
An overhead crane whose bridge travels along rails at roof level, carrying a hoist that moves across it.
Three motions combine: long travel moves the bridge down the bay, cross travel moves the trolley across the bridge, and hoisting raises or lowers the load. Each has its own motor, brake and limit switches, and most modern cranes run them through VFDs so loads start and stop without swinging.
Where you'll find it
Moving dies, coils, castings, machinery and raw material inside fabrication shops, foundries and warehouses.
overhead craneelectric overhead travelling cranebridge crane- Electric Chain Hoist
A compact lifting unit that raises a load on a chain driven by a geared electric motor.
The motor drives a gear train onto a load sheave that engages each chain link positively. A friction clutch slips if the load exceeds rating, and an electromagnetic brake sets the moment power is cut so the load holds position. Upper and lower limit switches stop the chain running out of travel at either end.
Where you'll find it
Workshop lifting, maintenance tasks, assembly stations, and as the hoisting unit on light cranes and jibs.
chain blockelectric hoist- Belt Conveyor
A continuous belt running over pulleys that carries material or products from one point to another.
A drive pulley at one end pulls the belt, idlers support it along the run, and a take-up assembly keeps tension correct. Tension and squareness are what keep the belt tracking centrally — most belt problems are alignment problems rather than belt faults. Loading at the right point and speed stops material spilling and belts wearing unevenly.
Where you'll find it
Moving bulk material in cement, mining and food plants, and products along packing and assembly lines.
conveyor belt system- Roller Conveyor
A conveyor whose load rides on a bed of rollers, either coasting under gravity or driven by a motor.
Gravity sections simply slope so cartons roll on their own. Powered sections drive the rollers by chain, belt or individual motorised rollers, often split into zones so one zone stops while the next keeps moving. That zoning gives accumulation without packages pressing on each other.
Where you'll find it
Carton handling in warehouses, packing lines, dispatch areas and assembly feeds.
gravity conveyorpowered roller conveyor- Bucket Elevator
A vertical conveyor that lifts bulk material in buckets attached to a belt or chain loop.
Buckets scoop material from the boot at the bottom, the belt or chain carries them up the casing, and at the head pulley they discharge — thrown outward by speed in a centrifugal design, or tipped gently in a continuous one. A back-stop on the drive stops a loaded elevator running backwards if power fails.
Where you'll find it
Lifting grain, cement, fly ash, minerals and powders between floors in process plants.
grain elevatorvertical bucket conveyor- Palletizer
A machine that stacks cartons or bags onto a pallet in a set pattern, replacing manual loading.
Incoming packs are turned and grouped into a layer, then placed on the pallet in a programmed pattern that interlocks for stability. Conventional machines build the layer on a plate and sweep it across; robotic ones pick with a vacuum or clamp gripper and place each pack or layer directly.
Where you'll find it
End-of-line stacking in cement, food, beverage and FMCG plants.

Power & Rotating
- Induction Motor
The standard AC workhorse motor, where rotor current is induced by the stator field rather than supplied through brushes.
Three-phase current in the stator creates a magnetic field rotating at synchronous speed. That moving field induces current in the rotor bars, and the interaction produces torque. The rotor must always turn slightly slower than the field — that difference, called slip, is what keeps inducing current and producing torque.
Where you'll find it
Pumps, fans, conveyors, compressors, machine tools — the great majority of rotating equipment in any plant.
AC motorsquirrel cage motor- Distribution Transformer
A transformer that steps incoming high voltage down to the level a factory's switchboards can use.
Alternating current in the primary winding creates a changing magnetic flux in the laminated core, which induces a voltage in the secondary. The turns ratio sets the voltage ratio. Losses show up as heat — constant core losses whenever it is energised, plus copper losses that rise with load — which is why cooling, whether oil or air, decides its real capacity.
Where you'll find it
The incoming supply point of almost every industrial plant, between the utility line and the main panel.
step-down transformer- DG Set (Diesel Generator)
A diesel engine coupled to an alternator, generating electricity when the grid supply fails.
The engine drives the alternator at a fixed speed so the output stays at 50 Hz. A governor adjusts fuel to hold that speed as load changes, and an automatic voltage regulator adjusts excitation to hold voltage. Changeover gear senses the grid failing, starts the set, and transfers load once output is stable.
Where you'll find it
Standby power for plants, hospitals, data rooms and continuous processes that cannot tolerate an outage.
diesel generator setgensetstandby generator- HT / LT Switchgear
The breakers, isolators and protection relays that switch and protect a plant's electrical distribution.
Each breaker can make and break load current, and clear a fault current safely. HT uses vacuum breakers, LT uses air circuit breakers and moulded-case breakers. Protection settings are graded so the breaker nearest a fault trips first, isolating the smallest possible area — a discrimination study decides those settings.
Where you'll find it
Incoming substations, main distribution boards, and feeders to MCCs and heavy loads.
switchgear panelACB panelVCB panel- Industrial Gearbox
A sealed gear train that reduces motor speed and multiplies torque to suit the driven machine.
Meshing gears trade speed for torque in proportion to their ratio. Helical gears engage gradually and run quietly; bevel gears turn the drive through a right angle; worm gears give a large reduction in one stage and can hold a load against back-driving. Service factor — how much margin the box has over the nominal load — decides whether it survives shock loading.
Where you'll find it
Conveyor and crane drives, mixers, mills, extruders and any load needing high torque at low speed.
speed reducergeared drive- Industrial UPS
A battery-backed supply that keeps control systems running through a power interruption.
An online UPS rectifies incoming AC to DC, floats the battery on that DC bus, and continuously regenerates clean AC from it — so a mains failure changes nothing downstream. A line-interactive unit instead passes mains through and switches to battery on failure, with a brief transfer gap that sensitive controllers may notice.
Where you'll find it
PLCs, SCADA servers, instrumentation and safety systems that must not reboot when the supply dips.
