BHEL equipment in Indian power, steel and process plants includes drives, excitation systems, control panels, relays and electronic cards, many of them in long-running installations.
Common faults
What usually fails on a unit like the UN 0664AV1
Power supplies are the most common single cause of machine electronics failing. Switched-mode supplies wear out in predictable places, mainly capacitors, switching transistors and fans, and almost all of them can be repaired and load-tested.
No output
Failed fuse, switching transistor, controller IC or startup circuit, often triggered by a surge.
Low, noisy or drifting output
Dried-out electrolytic capacitors are the most common cause, and they cause resets and odd faults in the equipment downstream.
Shutdown under load
Overload protection tripping because of a weak supply, or a short in the load.
Overheating
Failed fans and dust build-up in fan-cooled supplies and UPS units.
UPS battery and charger faults
Ageing batteries and failed charger circuits reduce backup time or cause transfer failures.
Power section
This is a power part, so it is checked under real load after repair, not just for output voltage at no load. Ageing capacitors and switching devices are replaced as found, since they are the usual cause.
First checks
What to check before calling an engineer
Isolate and lock out the supply, and wait for stored energy to discharge, before opening anything.
Safe for plant staff
- Measure the output voltage with and without load.
- Disconnect the load to see whether the supply or the load is at fault.
- Check fans and ventilation.
Leave to a specialist
- Opening a supply: its capacitors hold a charge after switch-off.
- Component-level repair and load testing.
- Battery replacement in UPS units.
Getting it fixed
How to get the UN 0664AV1 repaired
What to send with it
- The supply or UPS module.
- Its input and output ratings if the label is unreadable.
- What it feeds, and whether it failed suddenly or gradually.
Onsite or ship-in
Technicians work onsite from our Hyderabad base and travel to plants across India; anything that can be removed can also be sent to MachineryFix from anywhere in the country.
Warranty. Repairs carry a warranty of 30 days to 6 months, depending on the item and the repair; the exact term is confirmed before work starts.
FAQ
UN 0664AV1 repair questions
Is it worth repairing the BHEL UN 0664AV1 rather than buying a new one?+
For standard supplies it depends on availability and price; for machine-specific, discontinued or high-power supplies, repair is usually the practical route because an exact replacement may not exist.
Does the BHEL UN 0664AV1 have to be sent in, or can an engineer come to the plant?+
Either. An engineer can diagnose it in place and repair it there or take it away, or the unit can be sent to MachineryFix from anywhere in India. The diagnosis and repair cost are confirmed before any work starts.
Is MachineryFix connected to BHEL?+
No. BHEL and the model name are used only to identify the equipment. MachineryFix is an independent repair service and is not affiliated with or endorsed by BHEL.
