Not usually. The drive can be tested on a bench motor. Send the motor too if the alarm points at feedback or the motor itself, or if the fault follows the motor when drives are swapped.

If the drive's parameters and firmware are preserved, it normally goes back into the machine with the same settings. A parameter backup sent with the drive avoids surprises.
